Fruit Documentary Premiere

This timely piece tells the story of how the power of mentoring can shift the narrative of the young black male. The film explores the urgency of providing positive guidance and opportunity to reimagine success for black youth while touching on their vulnerability in the face of unfavorable circumstances.

Immediately following the premiere, Director Ricardo Bates and Executive Producer Anthony Brock will join other members on a panel to discuss the issue and explore how to change the narrative.

“It is an honor to show the documentary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a city with so much history and where people are truly pouring into the lives of young people on a daily basis.” Said Ricardo Bates, Director.

The film is based on the book Fruit, by co-authors, Ricardo Bates and Anthony Brock, Head of School at Valiant Cross Academy.

“This film is amplifying the conversation about the power of mentoring by highlighting facts and voices that inspire broadly to identity challenges, create opportunities and drive change.” Said Anthony Brock, Executive Producer.
